Overwatch NorCal Corporate Clash

Please note that this event has a few differences from the typical AHGL rules found in the handbook:

  • The semifinals and finals will occur on the same day one after another in an in-person event located in the Bay Area. Teams must agree to appear in person, at their own expense, at this event in the Bay Area if they make the semifinals.

  • The charity donation will go to Bay Area Extra Life guild benefiting the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital instead of having teams choose their own charity.

  • The date of the semifinals and finals will be December 9th.

These rules are subject to change at the administrator’s discretion. If rules should change, all captains will be notified accordingly.


The Handbook’s General Rules apply to all AHGL games, please read them first!

I. Overwatch Overview

  1. Player Eligibility: All players participating in Overwatch competitions must have an active (Americas) account in good standing displayed on their Battlefy profile. Only registered team members playing under their own account are allowed to play for a team.

  2. Team Roster Size: A team has to consist of 6-12 participants. Rules for qualifications for rostered members can be found in AHGL general rules.

  3. Registration: The Overwatch registration fee will be $200 per team. The captain pays this fee during registration on Battlefy.

  4. Game Version: All players must have their game up to date with the latest patch. PC only.

  5. Weekly Structure:

    1. Monday: Matchups for the following weekend are distributed (assuming all previous round match results have been entered) and an ordered list of maps for the next week's matches is released.

    2. Saturday : All matches are played on Saturday starting at 12pm Pacific (3pm Eastern). 

  6. Season Format: Exact season format will be announced before the season begins when we know the exact number of teams. This section will be updated along with an announcement email for all captains. There will be two at minimum two stages: Non-elimination Regular Season (~5-8 weeks) and Elimination Playoffs. There will also be a Ladder where the highest placing team(s) will qualify for wildcard spot(s) in Playoffs.


II. Rules


  1. Game preparations: It is the responsibility of the team Captains to verify game settings prior to match start. Agreements between the teams/players must be made in writing and saved as a screenshot. The match must be played with the following settings on the Americas server (image reference):​

    1. Rule set: Competitive

    2. Series length:

      1. Pre-Season & Season: Best of Three;

      2. Playoffs: Best of Five

    3. Map options

      1. Map rotation: After a game

      2. Map order: Single map

      3. Return to lobby: After a game

      4. Disable all maps except for the map that is to be played.

    4. Hero Options

      1. Selection limit: 1 per team

      2. All heroes are currently allowed

      3. Role selection limit: None

      4. Allow Hero Switching: On

      5. Respawn as random hero: Off

    5. Gameplay Options​

      1. Control game mode format: Best of 3

      2. Health modifier: 100%

      3. Damage modifier: 100%

      4. Healing modifier: 100%

      5. Ultimate charge rate modifier: 100%

      6. Respawn time modifier: 100%

      7. Ability cooldown modifier: 100%

      8. Disable skins: Off

      9. Disable health bars: Off

      10. Disable kill cam: On

      11. Disable kill feed: Off

      12. Headshots only: Off

    6. Team Options

      1. Team balancing: Off

      2. When balancing occurs: After a mirror match

  2. Ties: In case of a tie on Assault, Hybrid or Escort a preset Best of One Control map is to be played. The team that captures the first objective fully to 100%, on the first point of the control map will win the tied map.

  3. Substitute Players: There is no limit to the amount of substitutes used from your roster. Substitutes can only join after the current game of the tournament has ended, during a pause time.

  4. Disconnects: In the case that a player(s) disconnects, the team is allowed to continue to play the match at a disadvantage.

  5. Re-host: A re-host can only be played with prior admin approval. Please contact an admin via Discord to receive approval. In a re-hosted game each participant must choose the same side as they picked at the start of the the original match. Disconnects and lag issues will only qualify for a re-host if the issue occurs the within the first 60 seconds of the game. In the event of a game server crash, AHGL administrators will determine next steps.

III. Stoppage of Play

  1. The Leader will have the ability to pause the game and must do so when the request to pause is seen in chat (Default command: shift + ctrl + =).

  2. Team that requested a pause must announce the reason before or immediately after pause.

  3. Each team is granted a total of 10 minutes pause time during the match.

  4. When resuming the game from pause, both teams need to confirm in chat that they are ready to continue.

  5. If total pause time of 10 minutes runs out, the game has to be resumed. If one team refuses to resume the game, the opposing team will receive a default win.

  6. Admins hold the right to request teams to pause during the match in case of any other issues, and the time used to pause the match will not count for the team it was requested to.
